At MindSpeak AI, we are creating the open physical foundation for personal intelligence:Modular, accessible open hardware designed specifically for AI companions and autonomous agents.
We believe the next generation of personal AI shouldn't be locked inside proprietary black boxes. By building open hardware architectures with plug-and-play compute, local intelligence, and private-by-design audio systems, we empower creators, researchers, and builders to bring truly personal AI into the physical world.
We originally started MindSpeak AI in 2016. At the time, we had a clear idea of what we wanted to build in the AI space. However, after putting in significant time, we shelved the startup idea at the end of 2018. The reason was simple: to do anything meaningful in AI back then, we needed to build models from scratch, which required massive funding, a highly specialized team, and vast amounts of training data resources we lacked. But given how the AI landscape has evolved by 2025, we can now leverage existing foundational models and simply build intelligent agents on top of them. This shift has leveled the playing field for all of us, making it the perfect time to restart MindSpeak AI.
"Memory is the architecture of the human soul."
Our vision is to build your Second Brain: an AI companion that truly understands you—your memories, your emotions, and the meaning behind your life experiences. It is more than just digital storage; it is a companion that learns, grows, and evolves with you. By grounding this Second Brain in open, user-owned hardware, we ensure your memories and digital essence are never trapped in a walled garden, but remain deeply personal, transparent, and under your control.
Can true trust exist when your most personal companion runs on closed, black-box hardware? How does open hardware return ownership of data, sensors, and intelligence directly to users?
What transforms when AI agents move beyond flat screens into tangible physical objects? How do acoustic spatiality, tactile design, and ambient interaction change human connection?
How do we make private AI companions viable at home? How can modular baseboards and local LLMs eliminate forced cloud dependence while remaining accessible to builders?
How can physical companions preserve the subtleties of human memory and experience? How do we ensure your Second Brain enhances human depth rather than replacing it?
"This is where memory meets meaning and technology serves humanity's deepest need: to be understood and remembered."
